The Best Computer Brand

The brand I think is most under appreciated is Lenovo. They don't advertise to individual consumers and it is surprising how many people have never heard of them. They used to be IBM but renamed their personal computer division when they split it off. You can order online from lenovo.com or select the site from there that deals with your part of the world.

Their corporate section used to say for orders of 0,000 or more. If you are just spending ,000 you are getting computers for the guest rooms in the mansion I guess.

They don't have much of a retail presence, but their choice in laptops is about 10 times as much as any other computer site I've seen and you can customize as you go along. They do carry choices right down to the very cheap ones, but at least with the mid price range and up you can pick out solid state drive, LED back lit screen (both increase battery life) and a heavier battery, that sort of stuff.

They have the world's only dual monitor notebook. The second screen slides out from behind the first when you want to use it.

They have beaten Macs in customer satisfaction surveys and did it without advertising or evangelists.

Mostly they supply government and big business. I do some work at the city of Calgary and their computers (all Lenovos) are left running 24-7-365 for years. A part of the reason is to let the IT guys to do remote updates at night.

And then there is the Lenovo Trackpoint. It is a small red button in the middle of their notebook keyboards that lets you move the cursor around. The second time I pushed it I liked it better than the touchpad. Push it harder and the cursor moves farther and faster. A couple of users have said that even when they have a mouse hooked up they hardly use it. Lenovo does hold the patent.

A lot of their laptops do have a fingerprint reader. That might be better security than a password and easy to remember.

I had thought that a wider monitor would use more power but you get a wider battery to match it. You then have a wider battery to run the computer drivers too.

There is a lot more but visiting their site and clicking around is an eye opener and a learning experience.
